A WWE Hall of Famer has called out a major issue with Oba Femi’s recent booking.

Since making his main roster debut, Femi has been a free agent, making appearances on both Raw and SmackDown brands.

The Ruler was also the first and only wrestler to answer Brock Lesnar’s open challenge weeks before WrestleMania 42. The lead-up to their Show of Shows match saw Femi humiliate The Beast Incarnate on more than one occasion.

Then, at WrestleMania 42, the Nigerian superstar did the unthinkable, defeating Lesnar in under 5 minutes.

As fans speculated about his next challenger, the 28-year-old announced a weekly open challenge, welcoming his peers to stand toe-to-toe against him.

His first challenger was Alpha Academy’s Otis, whom he destroyed by hitting his Fall From Grace finisher. While many fans liked watching Oba dominate a man who outweighed him, they also showed concern for Otis’ future in the company.

On May 11, the story was quite different as no individual backstage wanted to challenge Oba Femi, which was conveyed to him by WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce.

An irate Femi went backstage and dragged out the Los Garza duo of Angel and Berto, whom he dominated before pinning Berto for the victory.

After being squashed, Angel posted a cryptic message on X, thanking the WWE Universe for supporting them. While the message, at first, signaled their departure from the company, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer confirmed that it was not the case.

Bully Ray Highlights The Issue With Oba Femi Challenge On WWE Raw

While the Oba Femi open challenge gives WWE fans the chance to watch the Nigerian superstar in action every week, it comes with its share of opposition.

While speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray shared his worry about the booking of Femi post-WrestleMania.

Bully also noticed that the commentators did not appear as invested in it as they should have been, who were instead joking around, making him wonder if there was some problem.

He also wondered what Femi’s challenger got by answering his call to go one-on-one with him.

When I saw the look on Oba Femi’s face, when he got in the ring, and he was walking around the ring, I said, something’s up. Something’s not right with the look on his face. And lo and behold, we got the segment that we did. So last night could have been a wonky night.

You have the Oba Femi Open Challenge, right? What is my incentive as a wrestler in the back to come out and face the guy that just retired Brock Lesnar? Oba’s a big man, a strong man. He can shot put men like Otis across the ring. He’s got a devastating sit-out powerbomb. He’s a strong mother trucker. What’s my incentive to go beat, to go face Oba? So if I go out there and I beat Oba, I can just say, ‘I’ve beaten Oba?’ Like I would love to see them tie something. [H/T: WrestlingInc.com]

The WWE Hall of Famer also questioned Femi’s latest bookings, claiming that they were not as notable as him going against Brock Lesnar, which could reduce the value of the open challenge.

He beats Brock Lesnar. Great. And then what? What are we doing the Monday night after? And the Monday night after that, the Monday night after that, we’re going to do an open challenge. Okay. Who are his opponents?

And you told me this list of guys, I tell you, you’re fu**ing crazy.
