New WWE Champion Makes Incredible Wrestling History
A WWE superstar won their first championship in pro wrestling and made history doing so.
At TNA No Surrender in Nashville on February 13th, Arianna Grace beat Léi Yǐng Lee (formerly Xia Li in WWE) to become the new TNA Knockouts Champion. For Grace, the daughter of Santino Marella, it was the first championship she’s won in pro wrestling.
Arianna Grace won the TNA Knockouts Title due to an eye rake and the presence of her fiancé, Stacks, outside the ring. After that, Grace hit Lee with the Cobra (the dreaded “snake” that her father Santino used as a weapon for many years) and followed up with a Facebuster onto the knee. That led to Grace covering Lee to win the TNA Knockouts Title.
Considering Grace had been part of the WWE roster for four years and appeared on NXT without winning a title, she was not surprisingly bragging after the win.
After her title win, Grace had a colorful social media message for her haters.
HEYYY you ugly idiot wrestling fans who told me for so long that I cannot perform in ring …. go and watch my match with Lei and then you can literally go (assume the rest)
WWE’s Arianna Grace Made History By Winning TNA Knockouts Title
There was history made when Arianna Grace won the TNA Knockouts Title because she’s the first woman of South Asian heritage to win a Women’s World Championship in a major wrestling promotion. Grace noted on X/Twitter that her maternal grandfather was from Pakistan.
This makes me so proud! My grandpa (maternal side) was from Pakistan! Reppin!
