John Cena is famous for his unbelievable strength, and that is why he has earned himself the nickname “Super Cena.”

Although Cena is no longer in his prime and retired from in-ring competition in December 2025, stories about his incredible feats of strength are still widely discussed by fans and peers alike.

For those who may not remember, Cena once lifted both Big Show and Edge (a combined weight of over 735 pounds) onto his shoulders at WrestleMania 25. At One Night Stand 2007, Cena delivered an Attitude Adjustment to the 7-foot, 420-pound giant The Great Khali off the bed of a construction crane.

Even in his final year in WWE, Cena showed that he still possessed elite strength by lifting the 330-pound Bronson Reed for an Attitude Adjustment. There are many stories about Cena’s raw power, and former WWE star Shelly Martinez recently shared one from the time when Cena was becoming the face of WWE.

The Time When John Cena Broke The Ring

Speaking on her Too Much Information podcast, Martinez recalled that while she was at training, she saw Cena hitting the ropes and running inside the ring. According to her, Cena hit the ropes with such force that they snapped, and the ring itself ended up breaking.

She said, “I went to this training, and I’ll never forget it… I remember John Cena being in the ring, and he was hitting the ropes and running, and we all were training, and he hit them so hard that he broke the ring. The ropes broke, and it was like this fun little moment, and fast forward to John Cena being John Cena.”
