Ex-Undisputed WWE Champion Allegedly In Mystery Box

WWE's Mystery Box On SmackDown

WWE’s mystery box has been drawing a lot of attention lately.

A mysterious crate was delivered to Raw General Manager Adam Pearce on the February 16 episode of Monday Night Raw. The box came with a strict instruction: “Do not open until 02/28/26,” which is the date of the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Chicago.

Confused by the box, Adam Pearce sent it to SmackDown for SD General Manager Nick Aldis to deal with it, but Aldis ordered it to be sent back to Raw. On the February 23 edition of Monday Night Raw, both Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis decided that they would open the box together at the Elimination Chamber event on February 28.

There has been a lot of speculation about what could be inside the box in the past week. The box is pretty big, and it could easily fit a man. As a result, the majority of fan predictions suggest that a person will come out of the box likely as a returning star or a new WWE debut.

Chris Jericho Will Be Inside The WWE Mystery Box, Says Sam Roberts

On a recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts shared his thoughts on the WWE mystery box storyline. Roberts stated that he firmly believes ex- WWE World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho will pop out of the box at Elimination Chamber, as it makes the most sense.

I think it’s Jericho. Jericho is my pick for what’s in the crate. It’s a little bit of an obvious one. It’s a little on the nose, I think, but it just makes all the sense in the world, and it would get the reaction. (From 46:41)

Jericho is heavily rumored to return to WWE soon. His contract reportedly expired last December, and he was expected to return at the 2026 Royal Rumble. However, it was later reported that AEW may have extended his deal due to his missing significant in-ring time.

That said, Conrad Thompson addressed the situation, suggesting that Chris Jericho’s AEW contract is not frozen and that reports claiming otherwise are fake news.
