How WWE Mystery Box Could Change WrestleMania 42 Plans Entirely
On the February 16 episode of WWE Raw, a mysterious crate was delivered backstage with instructions reading, “Deliver to WWE. Do Not Open Until 02/28/26,” which is the date of the Elimination Chamber PLE in Chicago.
Raw General Manager Adam Pearce appeared confused by the delivery and ordered the box to be shipped to SmackDown for General Manager Nick Aldis to handle. WWE later featured the mystery box in a backstage segment on SmackDown, but fans were given no real clues about what or who might be inside.
Since then, widespread speculation has taken over. Fans quickly noticed that the crate is roughly man-sized, leading many to believe it could contain a returning superstar or a surprise debut.
Some fans believe Chris Jericho could be the one unboxed in Chicago. Others think the crate is tied to the recent masked attacks on The Vision’s Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and Bronson Reed. I believe that Seth Rollins will come out of the box at Elimination Chamber.
Seth Rollins’ Return Might Shake Up WWE WrestleMania 42 Plans
Rollins suffered a shoulder injury last year while wrestling Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel. As a result, he was stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship and written off television to undergo surgery and recovery. In multiple interviews since then, Rollins has said he’s targeting a WrestleMania return.
Up until recently, WWE reportedly had Rollins penciled in to face his former ally-turned-betrayer, Bron Breakker, at WrestleMania 42. However, Breakker suffered an injury during a recent episode of Raw, and new reports suggest he may not be cleared in time.
Because of that, I believe WWE might have pivoted creatively. My theory is that WWE will unbox Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber, likely after the CM Punk vs. Finn Balor match. Chicago fans could then witness Rollins immediately go after his longtime rival, CM Punk.
That moment could set up a blockbuster triple-threat feud involving CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42.
The same three stars competed in a triple threat at WrestleMania 41 last year, but without a title on the line. This time, the championship would be at stake, and Rollins would have a legitimate claim, as he technically never lost the belt, only vacated it due to injury.
Roman Reigns won this year’s Royal Rumble, and he’s set to challenge Punk for the title at Mania.
