WWE Activates Plan B For Jade Cargill’s WrestleMania Match

Over the last couple of months, WWE was in a quandary when it came to dealing with the Jade Cargill situation.

Cargill won the Women’s Championship from Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1.

Since then, she has defended the title only once while wrestling in three other singles matches against B-Fab, Alba Fyre, and Chelsea Green, all of which have been squashes.

The conundrum surrounding Jade Cargill was that WWE wanted her to defend her title against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 42.

However, Belair’s current injury left it hanging in the air for them. The 36-year-old recently underwent surgery and is expected to miss the Show of Shows, forcing the Stamford promotion to activate its Plan B.

Jade Cargill Could Face Rhea Ripley At WrestleMania 42

A couple of weeks ago, Rhea Ripley won an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on WWE Raw by defeating Ivy Nile and Lyra Valkyria.

According to a report by Self Made Session, the Australian wrestler is likely to take the spot. The two wrestlers have previously exchanged glances backstage during live shows.

The very first time I heard rumblings of Rhea Ripley versus Jade Cargill was around WarGames. It was explained to me that WWE would prefer to have Bianca Belair healthy to face Jade Cargill. That’s the reason Jade won the championship — so they could do the match with Bianca.

It’s looking increasingly like Bianca may not be able to wrestle on the show, even if she’s planning to appear. Jade and Rhea is something they’ve always kind of kept in their back pocket. If worst comes to worst, they could just have Rhea win the Elimination Chamber and face Jade. [H/T: Ringside News]

On the February 23 taping of Raw, Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan picked Stephanie Vaquer as the champion she would face at WrestleMania.
