Inside Scoop On Why WWE Booked CM Punk Vs. Finn Balor For Elimination Chamber

CM Punk will clash with Finn Balor at WWE Elimination Chamber.

The lead-up to their match at the February 28 premium live event has been as chaotic as expected.

It all started with Balor vowing to revive and bring glory back to his Judgment Day faction. He was then confronted by his stablemates for playing video games backstage despite making big promises publicly.

This led to him interrupting Punk during one of his promos at a European show, leading to a match set up for the title in his home country of Ireland.

The match received good praise, but was won by Punk. The subsequent taping saw Balor thanking Punk for accepting his challenge, after which they went on their separate paths.

The Prince then hoped to enter the Men’s WWE Royal Rumble match, but was denied by general manager Adam Pearce, who claimed the 30 slots were filled.

This led Balor to take a different approach and attack Punk, as he hit multiple Coup de Gras finishers on him.

Why WWE Booked CM Punk Vs. Finn Balor

WWE has already advertised CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for WWrestleMania 42.

However, on Raw, Adam Pearce reluctantly added Punk vs. Balor to the Elimination Chamber that could flip the script on the company’s plans.

Evidently, the stakes are high, as Balor winning the championship could derail everything that the writers have worked towards until now.

The real reason behind booking this match was revealed on a recent episode of the Self Made Pro podcast. Apparently, it was Punk who advocated for it as he wanted to work with Balor more.

Expect this month to mainly be focused on Finn Bálor, though. He’s working Bálor again mainly because he likes working Finn Bálor and has wanted to work Finn for some time. So there you go. [H/T: Ringside News]
