Why Top AEW Star Will Not Wrestle At Revolution PPV

A major name in AEW is likely going to be off the card for the Revolution PPV in Los Angeles.

In the main event of AEW Dynamite on February 18th, Swerve Strickland defeated Kenny Omega in a matchup between two former World Champions. They kicked out of many big moves, and Swerve won with his Big Pressure slam.

After the match, Swerve turned heel by choking Omega with a steel chain around the throat and then hit him with a Vertebreaker through the commentary table. Swerve shouted, “I need this,” after the attack, as if to prove to Omega that he was the most dangerous man in AEW.

Kenny Omega being attacked and likely storyline-injured by Swerve could be a way to take Omega off television for a few weeks. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega will be in Japan when the AEW Revolution PPV takes place on March 15th.

“Regarding Kenny Omega, as noted two weeks ago, he is under contract to be at the Capcom event at Sumo Hall in Tokyo from 3/11 to 3/15. He is trying to make a deal where he can leave on 3/14 and be on the PPV, but as of right now he still has the commitment.

He said there is a possibility he can make the date but at this point he didn’t want to be in a position where he had to be on the show or where he would be teased or advertised in case he cant make it.”

Due to the commitment in Japan, Omega is likely not to be in a match at Revolution.

AEW Revolution Will Feature At Least Three Title Matches With More Coming

The next AEW PPV, Revolution, is on March 15th in Los Angeles. Maxwell Jacob Friedman will defend the AEW World Title against former champion “Hangman” Adam Page. On Dynamite, Page said that if he doesn’t win the gold, he can never challenge for the World Title again. MJF will also get to pick the stipulation on next week’s Dynamite.

At Revolution, there have been three official title matches announced so far.

* AEW World Championship: Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. “Hangman” Adam Page – If Page loses, he cannot wrestle for the World Title again.

* AEW World Tag Team Championships: FTR vs. The Young Bucks

* AEW Continental Championship No Time Limit Match: Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Since AEW has other championships, there will likely be additional championship matches added to the card.
