When Sasha Banks Was Released By WWE

Whilst the rumblings continue as to Sasha Banks’ status in WWE, a new report has shed light on the date the former Women’s Champion was released, as well as who by.

Former Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks hasn’t been seen in WWE since she and her tag team partner Naomi walked out of Monday Night Raw on May 16th. The two were last seen on WWE television on the May 13th episode of SmackDown. At the time, the two were said to be frustrated by creative decisions that reportedly would have seen Naomi win a six-pack challenge and go on to face Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell.

On that night, WWE released a statement that labelled the women as unprofessional, and Corey Graves made it clear on the broadcast that they had “summarily and unprofessionally walked out.” The company also removed all merchandise related to the women from their online shop and stripped the two of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. reported on 16th June 2022 that ‘The Boss’ had been released from her WWE contract, with later updates claiming Banks had a legal team working to push the release through.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider then seemingly poured cold water on that report, stating that both Sasha Banks and Naomi were still under WWE contracts, and still listed on the company’s active roster.

The latest update from Raj Giri contains more details on exactly what happened with the release of Sasha Banks, stating both a date of her release and who was responsible for it.

Here’s what I know about Sasha Banks. She was released on June 10th and it came from Erika Schreiber, VP of Business and Legal Affairs for Talent Relations. As for why WWE has not said anything or removed her, the rumor is that leadership is trying to smooth things over

Whilst the future of Sasha Banks in the wrestling industry is uncertain, with so many differing reports there can be little way of telling what the final outcome will be.
