What’s Next For Brody King After AEW Grand Slam Australia Heartbreak?
Brody King was left devastated after his AEW Grand Slam Australia outing.
Leading up to the match, King had done everything in his power to secure a title opportunity. World Champion MJF pulled out King’s past accomplishments, claiming he had not defeated anyone worthy enough to receive a championship match.
In turn, King saw it as an opportunity and vowed to take out the company’s top guy, MJF, on his way to a title clash in Sydney.
As a result, a match between them was finalized for the February 4 episode of Dynamite. Before the action resumed, “Hangman” Adam Page appeared on the stage, causing a distraction for MJF.
Brody King capitalized on it and put the Salt of the Earth into a chokehold and followed it up with the Ganzo Bomb for the victory.
Brody King Defines His Goals After Australia Setback
Despite the size advantage over MJF, Brody King dealt with a lot of punishment, especially after the AEW World Champion targeted his leg to weaken him.
The strategy worked as King constantly found himself defending.
In the closing minute, Brody ran the same spot from Dynamite, first choking out and then hitting the Ganzo drop, only this time MJF kicked out.
MJF then exposed King’s knee by taking off the knee pads and brace. He then hit a tombstone variation on Brody before hitting the Heatseeker for the win.
During the match, the 38-year-old challenger received support from his tag team partner and Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido.
In a video shared online by AEW, Brody King could be seen looking devastated as he sits with Bandido.
Bring the biggest. Bring the baddest. February 25th, I’m getting myself back into the World title hunt, and I’m looking for a fight.
February 25 refers to the AEW Dynamite taping from Denver, Colorado.
“Man, I was this close. You know what? Now I can taste it!”
