Wade Barrett issued a concerning statement regarding a former WWE champion on SmackDown.

Matt Cardona stepped up to Randy Orton a couple of weeks ago on the blue brand following The Viper’s vicious attack on the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Despite his courageous act, the former Intercontinental Champion himself fell victim to the 14-time world champion.

Orton’s assault left Cardona with a broken wrist. Nevertheless, the 40-year-old went head-to-head with The Viper the following week on SmackDown, but again failed to overcome him.

Matt Cardona Wrestled Injured On Tonight’s WWE SmackDown

After a few weeks of playing mind games with Matt Cardona, Aleister Black went one-on-one with the former Intercontinental Champion tonight on SmackDown.

Cardona competed with a cast on his left arm and looked in pain on many occasions during the fight. At the commentary desk, Wade Barrett acknowledged Zack Ryder’s injury, stating that he should not be wrestling and should be out of action for at least six weeks.

Barrett might have had a point as the 40-year-old lost to Black. Cardona’s last victory came on January 16, the night he returned to WWE on SmackDown.
