Vince McMahon could return to WWE under this condition.

McMahon first retired from WWE on July 22, 2022, stepping down as Chairman and CEO amid a scandal over $14.6 million in hush-money payments to four women for alleged sexual misconduct.

He resigned permanently from TKO (WWE’s parent company) on January 26, 2024, one day after The Wall Street Journal detailed Janel Grant’s lawsuit accusing him of abuse and trafficking.

Vince McMahon Could Return To WWE After Lawsuits Fade Away

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that McMahon’s resignation was for show and a temporary playbook to weather lawsuits. It was tactical, to calm sponsors amid Janel Grant’s lawsuit, not a true exit.

“On the day Vince McMahon resigned, said he was leaving, said he was retired, said he was done — he had zero intention of that being the end. None.”

“This was a playbook that someone — whether it was Ari Emanuel, Vince McMahon, or someone else — gave to him. This is how it’s going to go down. And it went down exactly like that.”

“Even Liberty Media said it was all pre-wired. That’s the term they used.”

Meltzer added that once the Janel Grant lawsuit fades, TKO could reinstate McMahon, as he still has billions in unsold stock.

“The lawsuit was so descriptively horrible, it scared off sponsors and made Endeavor say, ‘you’ve got to go.’”

“They’re probably waiting for this lawsuit to go away… and then maybe they bring him back. That was the playbook.”

On the Coach and Bro podcast, Vince Russo and Jonathan Coachman discussed that TKO might be preparing to bring Mr. McMahon back to WWE. It was also mentioned that Vince never left WWE and is still allegedly calling the shots in the company.
