Update On Why Drew McIntyre Is Missing WWE Raw

Drew McIntyre WWE Money in the Bank

Despite only recently returning to WWE, it seems Drew McIntyre is set to miss next week’s episode of Raw – and with good reason.

Drew McIntyre made his dramatic return to WWE at Money In The Bank in the United Kingdom, taking out Gunther after his successful Intercontinental Championship defense against Matt Riddle. The attack continued the following night on Raw, however it would now seem it’s time for another hiatus for ‘The Celtic Warrior’.

A new report from Pro Wrestling Insider has revealed that the reason for his absence is because he’s going to be part of a new film, The Killler’s Game, which will also feature fellow WWE alumni Dave Bautista. Ice Cube is also set to feature.

The synopsis for the film, courtesy of Deadline, is as follows:

Based on Jay Bonansinga’s novel, the film is written by Rand Ravich and Simon Kinberg, with recent rewrites by James Coyne. The film follows veteran assassin Joe Flood (Bautista), who is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and authorizes a kill on himself to avoid the pain that is destined to follow. After ordering the kill, he finds out that he was misdiagnosed and must then fend off the army of former colleagues trying to kill him.

Even though the lure of the silver screen will keep him away from some WWE commitments, it is still expected that Drew McIntyre will lace up his boots to face Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam.
