Is Gunther a Paul Heyman guy? If not, does he intend to become one?

The former World Heavyweight Champion recently cleared the air about his affiliation with the WWE Hall of Famer. Speculations about The Ring General joining Heyman began after the March 30 episode of Raw, when he attacked Seth Rollins after The Visionary had taken out Heyman with a chair shot to the back.

The discussion further intensified after both Gunther and Paul Heyman were featured in a backstage segment on the April 6 taping of the red brand.

During their interaction, Heyman thanked the ex-champion for helping him with Rollins, stating that he was in his debt. The Austrian superstar said that when the time came, he would come to collect his favor.

Gunther recently spoke on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, where he was asked about potentially securing the services of a manager, especially someone like Heyman.

In response, the 38-year-old claimed that while Heyman was helpful, he did not need someone in his ear all the time.

No. Well, to be fully honest, it was very useful to have him there in that position. But those interactions in that time have been enough to make me realize that I’m better off on my own.

I don’t need somebody in my ear. I’ve always trusted my gut my whole career, and it’s mostly been the right decision. So I wouldn’t change that. [H/T: Ringside News]

Apparently, Heyman paid his debt by using his influence to bring The Ring General on SmackDown, where he is involved in a feud with the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.

Gunther Discusses Mindset Ahead Of Title Match At WWE Clash In Italy

Gunther has a date with destiny at Clash in Italy on May 31, wherein he will look to become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time.

While speaking on No-Contest Wrestling, he shared his mindset going into the high-stakes title match while recounting past instances that set up his rivarly with Cody Rhodes.

It’s time to get even with him. There’s a bit of history with Cody. When it was my first Rumble, I was a marathon man. I broke the record for the longest time in the Rumble and I entered as #1 and almost made it till the end, and who walks out conveniently at #30? Cody, obviously, he eliminated me from the Rumble the year after, too.

And obviously, we had Saudi Arabia, which was a loss for me and that’s okay, but it’s time to set the record straight, and I feel like I’ve been annoyed by Cody’s way of doing business for a while and I grabbed the opportunity when I had it.
