Triple H Faces Racism Accusations From Ex-WWE Star
Triple H was called out for alleged racist comments.
In 2003, Triple H and Booker T were involved in one of the most controversial storylines in WWE history. The angle, which built toward their World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania XIX, drew heavy criticism due to its racial undertones.
During the buildup, Triple H, who was portrayed as the heel champion, used a language in promos aimed at Booker T, which many fans and critics later labeled as racist.
MVP Says Triple H’s 2003 Promo Against Booker T Was Incredibly Racist.
Former WWE star MVP recently revisited the storyline while speaking on the Marking Out podcast. MVP called out Triple H for crossing the line with his old promo, describing the remarks as outright racist.
MVP also noted how much the wrestling industry has evolved since then, stating that while racist storylines may generate heat, they are not good storytelling. He added that WWE can no longer rely on such angles for entertainment in today’s landscape.
“Racist characters now, they’re not good for you. And, you know, I always go in on Triple H and how I don’t like him or respect him, but if you look at that promo that he cut on Booker T going into WrestleMania, it was this overt racism.”
“I don’t know why anybody would, especially in modern times, would want to present their character as an overt racist. I don’t know what that does for you, especially in these modern times in terms of heat, when we all know it’s entertainment. It makes me wonder what motivates you… I don’t know. I just think that that doesn’t go well.”
