Triple H Accused Of Burying Huge WWE Star
Former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman is not happy with Triple H’s booking of Gunther.
On the February 23 episode of Monday Night Raw in Atlanta, Gunther opened the show by interrupting Michael Cole and Corey Graves as they were beginning the AJ Styles tribute.
The Ring General mocked the fans for celebrating a “loser” and claimed the spotlight belonged to him, as he was the man who ended Styles’ career at the Royal Rumble.
General Manager Adam Pearce eventually came out to stop the disruption and ordered security to escort Gunther out of the ring so the tribute could continue. As Gunther was heading to the back, Dragon Lee blindsided him.
Jonathan Coachman Calls Out Triple H For Booking Gunther In A Meaningless Feud Against Dragon Lee
Coachman took to his Twitter account to share his three takeaways from this week’s Raw. One of his main points was his displeasure with how Triple H continues to book Gunther.
Coachman noted that Gunther has retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, but after ending the careers of three legendary superstars, his momentum has been completely killed.
Coachman noted that since Styles’ retirement, Gunther has not been involved in a legitimate feud. He criticized Triple H for seemingly pitting Gunther against Dragon Lee, which he felt was inappropriate given Lee’s current standing.
According to Coachman, Lee is far lower on the popularity chain, while Gunther is one of the top stars in the company.
Coachman added that Triple H could have done much more with Gunther on Raw, such as having him interfere in Styles’ ceremony. Instead, Gunther was given a brief, seemingly irrelevant segment involving Dragon Lee.
He concluded by saying that Triple H is continuing to hurt Gunther’s momentum by giving him no action, boring segments on television, rather than booking him the way a top star should be booked.
My takeaway number one: at some point, either they’re gonna listen to me, or they’re gonna continue to bury Gunther. What do I mean by that? We’re getting the same thing week in and week out. Last night, they threw in a little twist, so we have Corey and Michael start in the ring, and then Gunther interrupts and does the same exact thing, and doing with the low-hanging fruit.
Let’s insult Bill Goldberg from Atlanta, got no reaction. John Cena, a little bit bigger reaction, and then why would he be offended that they were praising AJ Styles last night, a big-time, dirty, low-down heel would interrupt that particular ceremony, but they didn’t want to ruin that, so they didn’t have him do that.
Instead, they have him attacked by Dragon Lee. No offense to Dragon Lee, but they haven’t built him up. He’s not big in the United States. He’s not big in WWE. So why did they continue to use Dragon Lee for a guy who’s supposed to be a career killer, a KILLER! But we’re gonna continue that annoying laugh, the laughing, the no attacking, all that kind of stuff, and I’m gonna continue to be the bad guy for pointing it out. Bad booking. (From 0:12 to 1:21)
