Top WWE Star Confirms Injury Struggles
A major WWE star won’t be back in the ring just yet.
Although AJ Styles had been wrestling live events, and in Pro Wrestling NOAH, he had been absent from WWE for four months when he appeared on the October 4th episode of SmackDown.
However, that comeback didn’t go to plan.
During a match with Carmelo Hayes, Styles landed awkwardly and the match was called off by the referee. The star later confirmed he’d suffered a “Lisfranc injury,” and he hasn’t appeared on television since.
A new report from Fightful Select noted that Styles was backstage at the latest TNA tapings because they took place close to his home. The star spent 12 years with the company from 2002 to 2014 where he established himself as one of the best wrestlers on the planet.
The report added that Styles wasn’t in a cast, boot or even limping, but he confirmed he wasn’t 100%.
WWE Staying Quiet On AJ Styles
The comments come after it was reported WWE is keeping quiet on AJ Styles’ injury status. The report noted that not much is known about Styles at present, and the silence has been “very strange.”
It was reported after the taping that AJ Styles was “pretty mad” about the situation. According to the report, the match was meant to be the start of a legitimate retirement tour, or at least the tease of a retirement angle. However, these plans had to be dropped.
