Top Star Pulls Off A Dominik Mysterio-Like Move, Takes Shots At WWE Legend
Dominik Mysterio’s year-long feud with his father, Rey Mysterio, between 2022 and 2023 drew many eyeballs towards WWE.
Now, AEW seems to be recreating the recipe with David Finlay by having him thrash his father and WWE legend, Fit Finlay, in interviews.
The Jacksonville promotion struck gold when David officially debuted on Dynamite on March 4, where he not only attacked Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin, but also reunited with his NJPW stablemates Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors, their faction now repackaged as ‘The Dogs.’
On March 11, Finlay and Kidd took on Cassidy and Allin in a tag team match. In the closing minutes, Cassidy was laid out by Connors with a tire iron.
The Dogs then targeted Allin, with Finlay first hitting The Dominator and Kidd following up with a piledriver for the victory.
Elsewhere, Fit Finlay made an appearance on the March 10 taping of NXT alongside William Regal.
David Finlay Carries Out Dominik Mysterio-Like Assault On His Father
Following his heel turn in WWE, Dominik Mysterio became a universally despised superstar. He was subsequently featured in numerous segments with Rey, earning loud boos each time he appeared before the audience.
David Finlay has now taken on a similar role in All Elite Wrestling. On March 11, even the commentators spoke about his resentment towards his father because Fit Finlay never became a world champion.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone, David Finlay launched a verbal assault on his father, with Gabe Kidd saying his piece as well.
Kidd: F*ck his dad, bro, He’s not in The Dogs or the Death Riders. F*ck everyone that is not in The Dogs or the Death Riders, bro. Straight up.
Finlay: My dad’s greatest accomplishment is the fact that I came out of his nut sack. That is the greatest thing he has ever accomplished. [H/T: Fightful]

Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio last fought on December 20, 2025, at Guerra de Titanes in a tag team match.
