CM Punk is one of the biggest wrestlers on the planet, and he broke the internet after he signed for AEW in 2021, making a comeback to professional wrestling seven years after leaving WWE.

Signing Punk was one of the biggest moves that All Elite Wrestling made at the time, as it brought immediate eyeballs to the promotion while also establishing itself as one of the biggest in the world.

However, Punk’s time with AEW didn’t turn out to be as well as it was expected. He had a great start in the company with his first match against Darby Allin and his rivalry with MJF still being regarded as one of the best AEW storylines.

Things turned ugly after he was made the AEW World Champion. He had a falling out with Adam Page and The Elite initially before getting into a legit brawl with Jungle Jack Perry, untimately leading to his AEW departure.

Ricochet brings up CM Punk reference on AEW Dynamite

Since leaving the promotion, CM Punk broke the internet once again as he returned to WWE, nine years after his controversial exit from the Stamford-based promotion and is one of the biggest names on the roster there.

Having not been associated with AEW since his exit in 2023, the promotion took a surprising dig at the former World Champion during tonight’s edition of Dynamite during a match involving Jungle Jack Perry.

He teamed up with Kenny Omega and Brody King to take on The Demand as both Perry and Ricochet have been at each other’s throats for weeks. During their match, Ricochet said ‘Cry me a river’ to the camera while fighting with Jack Perry on the outside.

This was a direct reference to what Perry said to the camera while mocking Punk during a match with Hook at the 2023 AEW All In pre-show, after Punk refused to let real glass be used for a planned Jack Perry spot at a Collision taping.
