Tony Khan “Wanted To Work With Kota Ibushi In The Past”

AEW President Tony Khan has commented on wanting to work with Kota Ibushi after the star indicated he’d be open to talks with Khan’s company.

Ibushi’s time with New Japan Pro Wrestling came to an end at the end of January 2023, following an acrimonious spell between the two camps. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has not competed in the ring since the G1 Climax final in October 2021 that had to be stopped when Ibushi suffered a bad injury, allowing Kazuchika Okada to pick up the win.

Kota Ibushi will compete for Game Changer Wrestling at their shows over WrestleMania weekend and will face Speedball Mike Bailey at Bloodsport but the star has indicated he’d be open to having talks with AEW.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio Tony Khan noted that he was keen to work with Kota Ibushi in the past and it’s something he’d certainly consider now:

“There are a lot of great free agents in the world of pro wrestling. Certainly, Kota Ibushi is a great talent. When you have a name like that, everyone in the world of pro wrestling would be very fortunate to have in their promotion. We’ve wanted to work with him in the past, so it’s certainly something we would have to consider.”

AEW EVPs The Young Bucks have also noted that they would be happy to work with their former Golden Elite partner once again.
