Tony Khan’s Latest Shot At WWE References The “Real Crown Jewel”

Tony Khan has once again directed a shot towards WWE, this time relating to their next trip to Saudi Arabia in November for Crown Jewel.

All Elite Wrestling is gearing up for its second Grand Slam Dynamite broadcast, live from Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. What could very well go down as one of the infant promotion’s greatest shows to date will also mark the latest in a long line of AEW cards in the northeast.

Tony Khan addressed this during a recent interview with News 12 New York, stating the importance of running so many shows in the northeast; the “real crown jewel” of wrestling markets. Needless to say, this is a jab taken at the aforementioned 5 November WWE card:

“You’re right. We’re running a lot of great shows around the northeast, it’s so many great wrestling markets in one geographic region, and the…I’ll say it, the crown jewel of wrestling markets – the real crown jewel of wrestling markets, not some BS overseas in Saudi Arabia, the real crown jewel of wrestling markets, New York City is where you want to be.”

WWE Crown Jewel will be the company’s eighth jaunt to Saudi Arabia as part of their expanding relationship with the General Sports Authority. Currently lined up for the premium live event is a monumental Undisputed WWE Universal Championship clash, as Roman Reigns defends against Logan Paul.

As for AEW, their continued presence in the northeast will roll forward into next week’s (28 and 30 September, respectively) Dynamite and Rampage, which emanates from Philadelphia’s Liacouras Center.
