TNT Management Reportedly Excited About CM Punk’s AEW Debut

CM Punk looking to crowd

A new report has made more claims about CM Punk potentially returning to wrestling with AEW, saying even TNT is now gearing up for Punk joining the company.

For the past several week’s CM Punk has once again been the talk of the wrestling world. Fightful Select first reported that Punk was in talks with All Elite Wrestling about joining them but no sides have ever confirmed Punk’s status.

The rumours gained more momentum when AEW announced the second edition of AEW Rampage – entitled The First Dance – would take place at the United Center in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Despite the building being bigger than AEW’s average for a weekly show, the event sold out in minutes after tickets went on general release as fans believe they will be in attendance for their hometown hero’s debut in the company.

CM Punk couldn’t help himself from joining in on the jokes when he was on commentary for MMA show CFFC 99. As Punk’s co-commentator referenced a return to wrestling, Punk mentioned that one of the fighters in the cage was looking “pretty All Elite right now.”

Fightful Select has now given the latest update on Punk’s situation, reporting that TNT is now operating under the assumption that CM Punk is about to join AEW.

The report adds that they spoke with several people at TNT and WarnerMedia who are said to be excited about the former WWE Champion’s arrival and it was noted that the full weight of the media company’s promotional machine will be behind Punk.

It was also stated in the report as a wider point of how AEW is seen in terms of WarnerMedia that people were very impressed at how strong ticket sales were for The First Dance and other shows in the Chicago area that are also upcoming. AEW Dynamite, Rampage, and All Out all take place in the Now Arena in Chicago on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th of September respectively.
