TNA Star Jeff Hardy Suffers Broken Leg (Video Included)

TJR Wrestling

TNA Wrestling simply cannot catch a break. In the midst of a string of headlines that included Eddie Edwards suffering a serious heel injury, Taz leaving the company, and reports that the company fell far behind on paying roster members, the company may have received the worst news of all today. At least they did get mainstream attention in a positive way this week by adding musician Billy Corgan to the creative team.

In a tweet sent out by TNA President Dixie Carter, she notified fans everywhere that Jeff Hardy, current TNA Tag Champion and undeniably the most popular member of the roster, broke his leg in a dirt bike accident. The tweet, along with the video she posted a short while later that shows Hardy’s accident, are below.

Jeff, along with his brother Matt, just won the TNA Tag Titles on the April 17th episode of Impact. TNA is taped through the beginning of May, where they have tapings lined up May 8-11. These tapings were to set up their first PPV of the year, Slammiversary.

It’s no stretch to assume that The Hardys, now that they finally won the titles, were a big part of the Slammiversary plans and now TNA will have to scramble to come up with a new plan for the tag titles, which would be the second time this month they’ve had to do so. As stated above, Eddie Edwards suffered an injury that forced The Wolves to relinquish their titles, which led to the opportunity The Hardys received to win the titles.

Details are minimal right now, so there’s no way of knowing how long Jeff will be out. We here at TJRWrestling wish Jeff a speedy recovery.

K-Tank’s Take: Either the Tag Titles are now cursed, or the company is, or both. If there was one person on the roster that TNA could not afford to lose, it’s Jeff Hardy. I’m very critical of the fans that come out to Orlando for the Impact tapings, but there is no denying that when Jeff Hardy comes out, that crowd is electric each and every time. Not only is he a top draw for the company, but this really makes TNA’s tag division non-existent for the time being without The Wolves and The Hardys being there.

On the April 17th show that the Hardys won the titles on, the teams that made up the tournament were nothing more than two wrestlers thrown together. The Revolution are really the only exception. To say TNA has it’s hands full right now as they gear up for their first PPV of the year is an understatement. Their ratings have not been trending up, and now they are down their most popular wrestler. These next few months could very well be make or break for the company.
