TNA Champion Reveals WWE Took Contract Offer Away – “I Wanted To Quit”
A championship wrestler in TNA says he had an offer to go to WWE until it was taken away.
Trey Miguel is the current TNA International Champion, who has been with the company for the past eight years as part of a group called The Rascalz, and also as a solo act.
Recently, The Rascalz trio of Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz, and Dezmond Xavier debuted in AEW and Miguel was originally supposed to be with them. However, Miguel was released due to homophobic and racist remarks he made on Twitter/X over six years ago.
It was also revealed that AEW Owner Tony Khan didn’t make the call to fire Miguel before he got started. It was Warner Bros. Discovery who made that decision, according to reports at the time. Miguel ended up back in TNA, where he’s been for a long time, and he’s felt comfortable there for years.
When Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz joined WWE in 2020 to become the team known as MSK (as Wes Lee and Nash Carter), Miguel was supposed to join them, but it didn’t happen for the same reason: Xavier’s controversial social media comments.
TNA Legend Saved Trey Miguel’s Wrestling Career
While speaking to the Johnny I Pro Show, Trey Migeul talked about how his WWE contract was taken away from him, and he wanted to quit. However, TNA legend and current WWE superstar Alex Shelley helped Miguel stay focused on being a TNA wrestler.
“Man, I wouldn’t be having this conversation with you right now if it weren’t for Alex Shelley. When Dez and Zach originally went to NXT, and I stayed at TNA, it was so hard. I remember when I got the news that I would not be going; contrary to popular belief, people think that was a decision that I made. I did not make that decision. I wanted to go with my brothers. We did not wanna break this band up.
But, I had the offer, and it was gone, and I wanted to quit. I didn’t know what to do. I was afraid to stand on my own two feet and I was afraid to go back to the company that just gave us this big goodbye backstage with my tail tucked.
It was borderline embarrassing to me, and Shelley had taken me under his wing that year because Don Callis, for whatever reason said, ‘Hey, Shelley, I want you to look after The Rascalz,’ and Shelley and I, we really clicked and we became really close, and I remember January of 2021, we had a lot of deep conversations and he said this, ‘I’m not letting you quit. It’s time that we get to work and make you undeniable.’”
In addition to being the current TNA International Champion, Miguel is a 2-time X-Division Champion and a TNA Tag Team Champion as well.
