Why The Usos Didn’t Help Roman Reigns At WWE Backlash Explained
The Usos were nowhere to be seen during Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Title bout against Jacob Fatu at Backlash, and this WWE star explains why.
Roman Reigns won the World Heavyweight Title from CM Punk after defeating him at WrestleMania 42 in the main event. On the Raw after WrestleMania 42, he was confronted by his cousin Jacob Fatu, who was fresh off a victory against Drew McIntyre in an Unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42. Fatu demanded a shot at Reigns’ title, saying he wanted the fame and fortune that come with being Champion so that he can help his family have a better life.
The two feuded intensely, with Fatu gaining the upper hand in the following weeks on Raw episodes, where he would choke Reigns out with the Tongan Death Grip. The Usos, who are also part of the Samoan Bloodline and are Reigns and Fatu’s cousins, were part of the feud with The OTC, who had asked them to be by his side.
Fatu squared off against Reigns at WWE Backlash for the World Heavyweight Title in a match that he desperately tried to seal off with multiple attempts at applying the deadly Tongan Death Grip on Reigns. Reigns, however, managed to find a way out each time, but couldn’t knock the Samoan Werewolf down despite multiple Superman Punches. In the end, Reigns hit Fatu’s head on an accidentally exposed turnbuckle and speared him to seal the victory.
An enraged Fatu didn’t take it very well and continued to choke The OTC out with his Tongan Death Grip after the match. Security and even Raw General Manager Adam Pearce tried to stop him, but failed.
One thing that was especially notable was that the Usos were nowhere to be seen during this bout and WWE commentator Corey Graves explained why in the post-show.
WWE Star Corey Graves Explains The Usos ‘ Absence In Roman Reigns Vs Jacob Fatu Match
On the Backlash post-show, Corey Graves pointed out that the Usos were present at the countdown, but didn’t help Reigns during his bout.
Graves revealed that it was likely because they heeded the Samoan Werewolf’s warning that he would burn down the family tree if the Usos were to help Reigns.
The fact that we did not see Jimmy or Jey in any capacity. They’re here. We have them on the countdown. The fact that Jimmy and Jey heeded the warning issued by The Samoan Werewolf means there is a lot more meat on this bone we have not explored
Reigns also spoke on the post-show with Cathy Kelley and told her that Fatu does not belong in WWE and that it was a mistake for Reigns to get him there. Reigns noted that there is no order with Jacob Fatu, who is a person of chaos. He also stated that Backlash would be Fatu’s last night in WWE.
