The Kingdom Debut On AEW

The Kingdom

The Kingdom are All Elite.

Composed of Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Maria Kanelis Bennet, The Kingdom made their debut on AEW during last Friday night’s Rampage, starting a feud with FTR in the process.

After FTR and Shawn Spears scored a victory over Brian Cage and Gates of Agony in a trios match, The Kingdom would cut their celebration short. Kanellis would call their group The Kingdom, and said that the men in the group were the top dogs, saying All Elite Wrestling was built on the back of The Kingdom. That reference would be to Taven and Bennet being ROH and IWGP Tag Team Champions before FTR had the belts.

With FTR and Spears being distracted, The Embassy took advantage to pounce on them behind their backs, with The Kingdom also joining the beatdown. Eventually, Wardlow and Samoa Joe came out to save FTR and Spears, closing out the show.

After they made their AEW debut, Taven brought up in an interview how they never got a rematch for the ROH Tag Team Championship. At Final Battle 2021, Taven and Bennett would lose the titles to The Briscoes.

Since reuniting in 2020, Taven and Bennett have been paired up as The OGK, wrestling for IMPACT since the beginning of the year. Having had the IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Championship since August, they would lose the titles at last weekend’s television tapings for the promotion to Rhyno and Heath Slater.
