Seth Rollins Apologizes To AEW Star

Seth Rollins

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins had his tongue firmly in his cheek as he apologized to a current AEW star who happens to be his former protege.

It has been a big few weeks for Seth Rollins as he captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in Saudi Arabia at Night of Champions when he defeated AJ Styles in a tournament final for the newly introduced title.

But heavy is the head that wears the crown and on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins had trouble looking for him in the form of The Judgment Day. That led to a tag team main event that saw Rollins team with AJ Styles to take on the duo of Damian Priest and Finn Balor.

During the match, Rollins took a page out of Shawn Michaels’ playbook when he slid out of the ring and put his arm around SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. Ripley initially presumed it was one of her teammates and when she realized it was Rollins that led to a hilarious exchange between the two. Michaels had done the same spot with Melina during a tag team match years ago on WWE television.

Now speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Seth Rollins has said he hopes Ripley and her ‘Dom-Dom’ weren’t too offended as well as hoping he didn’t offend his former teammate Murphy – the real-life boyfriend of Ripley and now better known as AEW’s Buddy Matthews:

“I saw an opening, I had to take it. I don’t know what else to tell you. It was right there for the picking, and it made for good television and a lot of fun.

“I hope Rhea wasn’t too offended, I hope Dom-Dom wasn’t too offended. I hope my old protege Murphy wasn’t too offended. I don’t know, I’m just p*ssing everybody off, I guess.”

Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio’s on-screen relationship was recently referenced on AEW television at Double Or Nothing.
