Scrapped WWE SummerSlam Card: Huge Legend’s Return & Top Faction’s Split

WWE SummerSlam 2025

WWE had initially planned differently for SummerSlam 2025, but the actual show took a different direction.

WWE Unreal, Season 2, released on January 20 on Netflix, revealed early drafts for 2025’s Biggest Party of the Summer, which were later reshuffled as creative evolved and other stories took priority.

At SummerSlam, the card was set to include several matches, such as Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker, Jey Uso vs. Rusev, and Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins. Fans also found out that Triple H was planning to split The Judgment Day with a Finn Bálor (in his Demon character) vs. Dominik Mysterio match.

Plus, Creative was expecting WWE legend Brie Bella to return and join her twin sister Nikki in a tag team match against Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Other Major Matches That WWE Scrapped In 2025

SummerSlam was not the only event that underwent massive changes. According to WWE Unreal, IYO SKY was scheduled to face Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at Money in the Bank.

The King of the Ring final at Night of Champions was planned to be Cody Rhodes vs. Rusev, and the Queen of the Ring final was planned to be Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia. Also, Nikki Bella was scheduled to face Liv Morgan at Evolution.

WWE Unreal season 2 further revealed that the Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre match, which took place at WrestlePalooza 2025, was initially planned for Clash in Paris.

Sami Zayn and Jacob Fatu were chosen for Roman Reigns’ babyface team in Survivor Series WarGames, and Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, and JC Mateo were picked for the heel team.

WWE Unreal makes it clear these 2025 sheets were drafts, not locked cards. Creative revised multiple finishes, line-ups, and locations due to uncertain availability and unfortunate injuries.
