Ronda Rousey Talks WWE Run, Praise for Women’s Wrestlers, Bashes Fans for Being Ungrateful, More
With WrestleMania 36 now behind us, many wrestling fans were surprised that Ronda Rousey was not a part of the festivities. Rousey, who hasn’t been scene in the WWE since losing to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35 one year ago, recently appeared on the Wild Ride! With Steve-O Podcast to discuss her previous run with the WWE.
“I love the WWE. I had such a great time. I love all the girls in the locker room. Running out there and having fake fights for fun is just the best thing. I love choreography. I love acting. I love theatre. Live theater and some of the last forms of live theatre. But, I was doing basically part-time and I was away from home 200 days out of the year. And when I did get home, I was so sleep deprived cause you just don’t have time to lay down.”
Rousey went on to explain how the never-ending WWE schedule ended being too much for her and her family.
“If I did all of the live shows, I was only home a day and a half a week. It was just not worth it for my family because we were eliminating all of our expenses and living this lifestyle, we didn’t need it. We didn’t need the money.”
Rousey made it clear that if she comes back to WWE it won’t be on a full-time schedule again.
“If I ever do come back it will never be at a full-time capacity ever again. I think like for stints like chunks of time you know. I’m very much like an obsessive person or I like to obsess over something for a certain time and then like kind of go take some time to obsess about something else. But no I’m never gonna be full time again over 200 days a year on the road like that ever again because it’s just it was I needed to do it in order to learn and get like immersed into it and really understand what was going on but it’s just not the lifestyle for me.”
One thing that Rousey didn’t clearly enjoy about her time in WWE was the fans.
“So it’s just like…what am I doing it for if I’m not being able to spend my time and energy on my family? Instead of spending my time and energy on a bunch of f*cking ungrateful fans that don’t appreciate me. I love performing. I love the girls. I love being out there, but, at the end of the day, I was just like, ‘F*ck these fans, dude.’ My family loves me and they appreciate me and I want all my energy to go into them. So that was my decision at the end of the day. It’s like, ‘Hey girls. Love what you’re doing. I’m gonna try and take all my momentum and push you guys as far as I can … fly little birds, fly! I’m going f*cking home!’ And that was basically it.”
