Roman Reigns Details His Backstage Role And Creative Input In WWE

Roman Reigns Stare WWE

Roman Reigns ruled WWE as the Tribal Chief, but it seems his influence runs deep behind the scenes as well.

Since 2020, Roman Reigns has been at the very apex of WWE. Over the last five years, Reigns has been inseparable from his Bloodline, either as hated rivals or as a family group ready to stand together and fight whoever stood in their way.

And it seems, there might not be much difference between what happens on-screen and what goes on behind the scenes in WWE.

Speaking on What’s Your Story with Stephanie McMahon, Roman Reigns detailed his role in WWE and how he is consulted on things happening in the company that he’s not necessarily involved in firsthand:

I try to be very well thought out. You know this role, the role of leadership, having people that you work with, and it doesn’t matter if they’re under you, supporting you, we’re all in this together. And I come from a team mentality, I played a not glorious position, defensive tackle, so a lot of times I was taking the heat for other guys to make the play.

But I can see how that process works here; that’s exactly what we do. You’re giving your body, you’re given creative, you’re laying down essentially for another performer. You’re doing everything you can to make them a bigger deal than they were before. So it’s stressful, definitely. I’ll get calls and be asked, “What’s your opinion on this?” I had no clue I was involved in that! You want my opinion, here’s what I think about it. You have to show up, you gotta be present.

Roman Reigns Doesn’t Want To Be Another Twin

Reigns continued detailing how he tries to use his influence backstage to help his family, although he admits there’s a competitive edge to that as well:

It’s one of those situations where I try to lead by example. I try to represent my family at the highest level, that way my cousins can see what I’m doing and then [they might] steal a page from my playbook because Joe’s doing alright, let me see if I can take something that he’s doing and make it a lot easier on my life and my family. So I’m always trying to represent, and some of it’s competitive, I wanna be the best too. I’ve had to compete with the twins my whole life, and I’m not trying to be another twin, no offence to them, but I’m trying to stand out.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Roman Reigns detailed how his relationship with Vince McMahon differed from other top WWE stars.
