Roman Reigns Head Of The PWI 500 2022

Roman Reigns number one

It’s that time of year when wrestling fans get to debate the PWI 500, but what is not up for debate is the fact that Roman Reigns has been named number one.

Roman Reigns’ legacy has continued to grow exponentially over the last year as he has solidified his place at the top of WWE as the Unified WWE Universal Champion.

The 2022 edition of the PWI 500’s evaluation period ran from July 1st, 2021 until the end of June 2022. In that time Roman Reigns conquered John Cena, Finn Balor, Big E, Goldberg, and Brock Lesnar to maintain one of the most dominant runs in WWE history.

This is the second time Roman Reigns has topped the PWI 500 after doing so back in 2016. In 2021, Reigns was ranked number two behind AEW’s Kenny Omega.

This year New Japan Pro Wrestling star Kazuchika Okada takes the second spot. The Rainmaker won the G1 Climax tournament in 2021 before going on to capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 16 by defeating Shingo Takagi.

Third place falls to CM Punk who returns to the top 10 for the first time since 2013. Behind Punk is the man who he defeated for the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing, Hangman Adam Page.

The PWI 500 rankings take into account win/loss records, the strength of the opposition, technical ability, influence on the sport, and success against the most diverse competition and activity.
