Rhea Ripley had a busy night on the August 21st edition of RAW, but she will have an even busier night on September 2nd at WWE Payback.
The night-long storyline on the most recent episode of RAW was centered on The Judgment Day appearing to fall apart while also having to pick two people to face Sami Zayn and the returning Kevin Owens in a tag team match in the show’s main-event spot.
Ripley tried to maintain stability in her stable, but when she couldn’t do so successfully she took her frustrations out on Candice LeRae, whom she beat in about two minutes.
Ripley escaped Rodriguez’s vengeance on this night, but she’ll have nowhere to run or hide in two weeks when the two women face off at Payback
Rhea Ripley to defend her Women’s World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez at WWE Payback
Raquel Rodriguez has been with WWE for seven years and is already one of the most decorated women on the company’s active roster. She is a former NXT Women’s Champion, won both the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the Women’s WWE Tag Team Championship tournament in 2022, and is a five-time women’s tag team champion between NXT and the main roster.
However, all three of Rodriguez’s women’s tag team championship reigns have been relatively short, with the longest one spanning only thirty-nine days.
The last time Rodriguez had a major interaction with Ripley it led to Rodriguez being sidelined temporarily as Ripley decimated her in a backstage attack that took her off television for over a month.
