Released Star Frustrated With WWE Run: “I Didn’t Get A Chance”
A former WWE star expressed frustration with her run in the company.
Elektra Lopez wrestled for the WWE from 2018 to 2025. She first started off in NXT, where she became known as the only female member of Legado Del Fantasma. She was featured prominently on the black and silver brand every week.
However, when Legado Del Fantasma was called up to the main roster, Elektra Lopez remained in NXT. Instead, Zelina Vega took her place in the faction. Elektra continued to feature prominently in NXT. The former WWE star made her main roster debut on the January 26, 2024 episode of SmackDown by helping Santos Escobar during his match against Carlito. She was now back with Legado Del Fantasma. However, she was released from WWE a year later.
Former WWE star Elektra Lopez felt like she didn’t get the chance to showcase her abilities
During an appearance on The Wrestling Classic, Elektra Lopez said that by being a part of Legado Del Fantasma, she was put in a spot where she had to be a manager instead of a wrestler. She expressed frustration because she wanted more opportunities to wrestle, but she never got the chance to showcase her in-ring skills. Now that she has free rein over her career, she is planning to do that.
“It was cool. It was really cool. I just felt like the only thing was being with the group. It kind of put me into a weird spot where it was like I wanted to be a wrestler, but then I was kind of pushed more to just managing when I still wanted to wrestle. So, I wasn’t given unfortunately that many opportunities to wrestle, which was a little frustrating. But again, you know, that’s you know, when people are on the internet are like, ‘Oh, this and that.’ Like, you don’t know what it is behind the scenes. And like I have no control over that, you know, what my bookings are. So, I didn’t get a chance to really showcase much of my in-ring abilities. So, that’s what I’m hoping and planning to do now that I have free reign of my career.”
Elektra Lopez revealed that she and Santos Escobar never wanted her to be arm candy. They wanted her to have a stronger presence in the group.
“I feel like I was just able to kind of try to reinvent myself, not just as like I never wanted to be in Legado as looked at and Santos didn’t want me to be looked at as that as well as like just like arm candy like some like a valet like that, you know? We wanted me to have a little bit more of like a stronger presence. So being on my own, I felt like it helped me just establish myself as a strong character.” [H/T Ringside News]
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Elektra Lopez.
