Jon Moxley faced his toughest test as AEW Continental Champion tonight at Revolution 2026, which saw him defend his championship against long-term rival Konosuke Takeshita.

The Death Riders have been at odds with the Don Callis Family for several weeks now, and Moxley defeated multiple members of the Family in the build-up to this match.

Both of them met last month at AEW Grand Slam Australia, where Mox and Takeshita wrestled to a 20-minute time limit draw, a result which made neither man happy, leading to their rematch tonight.

Following their match in Australia, Moxley agreed to defend his title against The Alpha without the time restriction to ensure that there would be a winner between the two.

With the rest of their groups still not allowed at ringside, Moxley and Takeshita wrestled a brutal and bloody match. Moxley hit him with a Stomp that had the Japanese star bleeding from his forehead, before Mox unleashed more attacks on his head.

The Alpha showed incredible resilience throughout the bout as he kicked out of everything that Moxley threw at him. He then came back into the fight and performed an Exploder Superplex before hitting Mox with a running knee, but only got a two count.

Both men then caught their breath as they remained on the ground for a nine-count before Mox unleashed a flurry of attacks, only for Takeshita to kick out at one at the twenty-minute mark of the match.

Moxley then created a small piece of history in the match as he became the first man to kick out of the Raging Fire as he got his shoulder up at the last second. He followed it up with a Death Rider, but The Alpha then kicked out of his finisher.

Takeshita then kicked out of a Death Rider from the top rope before the champion locked in the Rear-Naked Choke on the Japanese star to knock him out and retain the championship.
