Reason For Rusev’s Sudden Disappearance From WWE TV Revealed
Rusev has disappeared from WWE television, and now the reason for his sudden absence has been revealed.
Rusev’s time in AEW was marked with long, unexplained absences from television. Then known as Miro, the star was accused in several reports of being unwilling to lose certain matches and had issues with the company’s creative for him.
It was thought that his problems were behind him when he made his return to WWE in 2025. He was quickly embroiled in a feud with his old friend Sheamus before entering the Intercontinental Championship picture with Dominik Mysterio and Penta.
The last time he was seen on SmackDown was when he lost a Last Time Is Now tournament quarter-final to Jey Uso. Since then, the former US Champion has had only one outing on Main Event and has not been seen since.
But it seems, at least this time, his absence is all part of the plan.
Rusev Being Kept Fresh By WWE
PWInsider has reported that WWE has deliberately pulled Rusev from TV while he’s not part of current storylines. The company’s goal is to keep him fresh for when the time is right to bring him back into the fold in a meaningful way.
It seems likely that Rusev could be involved in the upcoming Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, which could lead to a feud that leads all the way to his first WrestleMania appearance since 2019.
