Randy Orton’s WWE return is still up in the air.

Orton was last seen at WrestleMania 42, where he competed against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. He lost the match and the opportunity to become a 15-time World Champion. Following the match, he launched a brutal attack on Cody Rhodes, which hinted that this rivalry is far from over.

It has been almost two months since The Apex Predator was seen on TV, and fans were worried that Orton might be absent from TV because of an undisclosed injury. Dave Meltzer even provided a report claiming that the WWE legend was dealing with a severe back injury, which was the cause behind his WWE absence.

However, Randy Orton updated fans about his condition, saying that he is not injured but only on a hiatus for some time. He is currently enjoying his summer vacation with his family and friends, and added that he intends to return to chase his 15th World Title reign.

WWE Has No Immediate Plans To Bring Back Randy Orton

Randy Orton had been advertised for the May 29, 2026, episode of SmackDown at the Olympic Arena in Barcelona, Spain, which was the go-home show right before the Clash in Italy premium live event. However, Orton didn’t show up that night.

The upcoming episodes of SmackDown, ‘June 12’ and ‘June 19,’ are set to take place in Providence, Rhode Island, and Kansas City, respectively. WWE has advertised Randy Orton for the show on its official website. This has led fans to speculate that he might return to SmackDown on Friday this week.

However, there is some bad news for the fans. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently provided an update, revealing that he hasn’t heard anything about WWE planning to bring Randy Orton back to SmackDown this week or the week after. There has been no update as to when WWE will bring The Viper back to television.
