Randy Orton Had Doubts Over WWE Alliance With Megastar
Randy Orton had reservations about teaming up with a major celebrity.
At SummerSlam 2025, Orton was featured in a tag team match with Grammy-nominated artist Jelly Roll against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre.
While Jelly Roll ultimately earned high praise for his performance from various critics and fans, The Viper had his share of doubts about pairing up with him.
In Episode 4 of WWE: Unreal Season 2, a segment shows Randy Orton sharing his true feelings about the team-up.
During his interaction with Triple H in Gorilla Position after their match, Orton revealed that he felt unsure when the idea was first discussed with him.
I wasn’t really sure when Bruce (Prichard) first sat me down.
Hunter surprisingly shared his end of the experience, first agreeing with Orton. He then shared that he saw a couple of videos of Jelly Roll working hard in the ring, which forced him to change his mind later on.
Randy Orton, in turn, thanked him for booking him in that match.
Randy Orton Is Headed To Saturday Night’s Main Event
Randy Orton had a quiet 2025, with the majority of the focus being on John Cena.
In fact, his last match that year was on October 3 when he teamed up with Cody Rhodes in a loss to Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker on SmackDown.
The 45-year-old returned to the show on January 2, 2026, where he took out The Miz with an RKO.
His first bout this year was against The Miz on January 16 in a #1 Contenders Qualifying bout for the WWE Championship. Orton won the match and was joined by three other superstars later on in the show.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24, he will compete in a four-way match alongside Trick Williams, Damien Priest, and Sami Zayn, with the winner challenging Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
