Surprising Pitch Made For Roman Reigns’ WWE WrestleMania 43 Opponent

Roman Reigns is the WWE World Champion, and there’s already speculation about who he might face a year from now.

The main event of WrestleMania 42 Sunday saw Roman Reigns win the World Heavyweight Championship in an outstanding 35-minute match against CM Punk. Reigns is now a 7-time WWE World Champion who is likely going to face some of Raw’s best talent in the months ahead.

In the opening match on the same show, Oba Femi had one of the most impressive WrestleMania debuts ever when he defeated Brock Lesnar in under five minutes. Femi took everything Lesnar had, bounced back from it, and beat Lesnar with his Fall From Grace finisher.

On the WrestleMania 42 post-show, Oba Femi was asked about what’s next and mentioned Reigns, who is known as the “Original Tribal Chief” in WWE.

“I think tomorrow is a celebration. I think in the coming weeks is the establishment of a new main event player. And I think at the end of the year, the OTC can get some!”

When Reigns appeared on the WrestleMania 42 post-show, he was asked about Femi while the fans were chanting “Oba’s gonna kill you” at the Tribal Chief. Reigns mentioned his past success against Lesnar and addressed Femi.

Oba had a big night. Oba, you gonna kill me? You still seem a little fresh in this business. You did a big thing tonight, but I’ve done that many times. I did that with the title on the line. Let’s see how you do in the summer, then we’ll see if you can step to the Greatest of All Time.”

WWE Should Consider Saving Roman Reigns-Oba Femi Match

Since Oba Femi is a young superstar on the rise, many people are going to want to see what he can do against the World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns. While some fans may think SummerSlam in August would be a good time for the first Reigns-Femi match, others think that WWE should wait.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer remarked that WWE shouldn’t rush the Reigns-Femi match and should think about saving it until WrestleMania 43 next April in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“Oba mentioned wanting a match with Roman Reigns. So Roman Reigns comes out and they were booing him and chanting ‘Oba’s gonna kill you’ and ‘We want Oba.’ It felt like one of those things, kind of like the Lesnar match. The problem is with Brock it was the right thing to do for WrestleMania.

In this case I don’t think even SummerSlam is the right time to do it. He obviously beat Brock Lesnar so he needs to be shot to the top, but I just think Roman Reigns and Oba Femi should not be rushed at all. It feels like you could do that one next year at WrestleMania.” (h/t Wrestletalk)

Regarding his future, Roman Reigns made it clear that while he has been a part-timer in the past, he plans to be around more this summer.

“I’m gonna take you all to Monday Night RAW tomorrow night. All this part time cr*p? We’re gonna fix that. Y’all better make some room, because you’re gonna see my a** all summer!”

The next WWE PLE is Backlash on May 9th. It’s unknown if Reigns will wrestle on that card.
