Triple H’s Stance On Roman Reigns Vs. CM Punk At WWE WrestleMania 42 Finally Revealed

Triple H has given his take on the Roman Reigns-CM Punk that headlined WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

In the main event of WWE WrestleMania 42 Sunday, Roman Reigns became the World Heavyweight Champion by defeating CM Punk in an epic main event match.

The two legends had a very physical match that saw Punk bleed while they also used weapons around the ring, even though it was not a stipulation. The referee, Rod Zapata, allowed the wrestlers to use some weapons, including Punk putting Reigns through the commentary table with an elbow drop.

After Punk hit Reigns with his Go To Sleep knee finishing move, Reigns landed on Punk’s shoulders, and this time, Punk collapsed instead of hitting the GTS again. Punk was exhausted due to the physical toll of the match. Reigns followed up with his finishing move, the Spear, two times in a row and Reigns pinned Punk to win the World Heavyweight Title.

Many people have praised the Reigns-Punk match as a 5-star match that is among the best WrestleMania main events of all time, and likely the best match of WWE so far this year.

It was a decade earlier at WrestleMania 32 in 2016 when WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, was the WWE Champion defending the gold against Roman Reigns. That match was won by Reigns, although it’s not remembered as a classic.

During an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Triple H gave his thoughts on the Roman Reigns-CM Punk match and had a lot of good things to say about two of his biggest stars in WWE.

“Just epic. You know, you can see the passion and the pride of two guys that absolutely to the very core of their soul believe that they are the best in the world. And they’re out there to prove it to each other.

They’re out there to prove it to the 55,000 plus fans that were here tonight. Everything about them screams, ‘I have to show I am the best.’ And you see it all the way down to the end. Knockdown, drag out fight that just someone won’t give.”

Triple H Thinks The Roman Reigns-CM Punk Match Was An All-Timer

In Triple H’s opinion, nobody really lost the Reigns-Punk match even though Reigns is the new WWE World Champion. Triple H went on to call it one of the greatest matches he’s ever seen.

“And you finally get to the end of it, no one really loses, but Roman Reigns comes out the winner. Roman Reigns, the new world heavyweight champion to me, one of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen. Doesn’t get bigger.”

That’s high praise from The Game, who was obviously pleased with what he booked as the WrestleMania 42 Sunday main event.

As for his future, Roman Reigns said on the WrestleMania post-show that he’s likely going to be around WWE more often in the coming months while making it clear he’ll be around all summer.

“I’m gonna take you all to Monday Night RAW tomorrow night. All this part time cr*p? We’re gonna fix that. Y’all better make some room, because you’re gonna see my a** all summer!”
