Penta is happy to be the WWE Intercontinental Champion, but he’s also wrestling with an injury.

There was a big title change on the March 2nd edition of WWE Monday Night Raw when Penta beat Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his legendary career.

Late in the match, Dominik asked his buddy JD McDonagh to give him the bell hammer, so JD grabbed the hammer from ringside. As JD moved toward Dominik, Finn Balor told JD not to do it because Dominik said he wanted to handle it himself. Meanwhile, Penta ran the ropes and hit a somersault dive onto Balor and JD on the floor.

After taking out Dominik’s Judgment Day allies on the floor, Dominik went for the 619, but Penta dodged it and hit the Mexican Destroyer for the pinfall victory.

In an interview with No Contest Wrestling, Penta spoke about his 20-year journey in pro wrestling to become Intercontinental Champion and thanked the fans for supporting him.

“Man, the first thing was crazy. But at the same time, I feel like the emotion fixes it because it’s so very special for me, but the most important thing, I want to say thank you.

Thank you to my family, thank you to my friends, thank you to my company and thank you to everyone who believed in me because this is very important, and thank you to myself, because I believe in me every single day to achieve this title.

It’s like 20 years, the hard work, 20 years of the sacrifice. But, now, this title represents all these people who never give up because Penta represents all those people. Penta represent the dreamers, Penta represent the fighters so they’re real life.”

Penta Continues To Wrestle While Injured

As he continued talking about his WWE career, which began in early 2025, Penta spoke about how he continues to wrestle despite a torn biceps.

“This injury was like, maybe, I don’t remember exactly. Four, five years ago? Something like that. I don’t remember who gave me a kick. One kick in my chest but, basically, he broke my tendon, from the shoulder to the bicep, and bro, it’s so hard… and this is the shoulder for the last injury. You remember that? A couple months ago.”

When asked about how his shoulder is doing now after hurting it in a Raw match a few months earlier, Penta dismissed the pain.

“Now, no matter. I’m f**king glad. Because the gold is on my shoulder brother. The gold is in Mexico right now. No matter what happen with my body, I don’t care. This is the most important.”
