One NXT star has officially been promoted to the WWE main roster.

On December 28, 2022, Dragon Lee and his brother Dralistico defeated FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to win the AAA Tag Team titles on Wednesday’s AAA Noche de Campeones event in Acapulco, Mexico. After the match, Dragon Lee announced his decision to sign with WWE and he soon became part of the NXT brand.

Dragon Lee had his first televised match in NXT on April 1st at Stand & Deliver when he was part of a Fatal Five-Way match for the North American Championship. In recent weeks Lee has been a thorn in the side of Dominik Mysterio but Mysterio retained his North American Title against Lee on the 25th of September edition of Raw.

Dragon Lee officially joins WWE’s blue brand

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lee’s rivalry with Dominik Mysterio has been the reason for the move and the September 25th match against the North American Champion on Raw “may have sped up his timetable.” It is reported that Lee was expected to be on the main roster one year after he signed his deal that began on the developmental brand.

Lee made his SmackDown debut on the 6th of October picking up a win over Austin Theory. Now WWE has confirmed Lee’s status in the company as he has been moved to the SmackDown section of the roster on WWE’s own website.
