New WWE NXT Women’s Champion Crowned At Stand & Deliver

WWE WrestleMania Saturday has kicked off in style.

Roxanne Perez and her new attitude have captured the NXT Women’s Championship with a win over Lyra Valkyria at Stand & Deliver. At the end of a hugely physical contest where Perez did her best to try and break Valkyria’s arm, the young star forced her rival to tap out in a cross-face.

Valkyria appeared on the brink of defeat on multiple occasions, but she refused to quit, despite the damage to her arm. The Irish star had held the title since defeating Becky Lynch back in October.

Following the victory, Triple H sent his congratulations to the new champion on social media.

Perez is just one of three women to hold the NXT Women’s Title more than once.

Elsewhere at Stand & Deliver, WWE announced the creation of the Women’s North American Championship. There is no word on when the first-ever champion will be crowned or how they will be decided.

WWE Had Different Plans For Roxanne Perez

The victory comes after it was reported that WWE wanted to bring former Women’s Tag Team Champions Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade back together.

There had been speculation that in turning heel and facing Valkyria at Stand & Deliver, Perez had taken a spot previously reserved for Jade, but this has proven to be false. WWE planned to reunite the pair before Jade suffered a serious knee injury.

Although Perez is set to remain with NXT for the time being, a call-up to the main roster is seen internally as a “matter of time.”
