New WWE Champion Suddenly Crowned on SmackDown; Triple H Issues Statement
Triple H has broken his silence after a major title changed hands on WWE SmackDown.
Things are heating up on the Road to WrestleMania 42. The main event of this week’s Friday Night SmackDown saw Drew McIntyre put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes. The Scottish Warrior used all sorts of tricks to walk away with the gold, including targeting referees.
In the closing moments, Jacob Fatu made his presence felt when he took a steel chair away from McIntyre’s hands. After a brief back-and-forth, Cody Rhodes avoided a Claymore and countered with a thunderous Super Cutter. He then finished off Drew McIntyre with the Cross Rhodes to start his new reign as the topmost champion on the blue brand.
Triple H makes WWE WrestleMania 42 match official
Not long after the high-stakes clash, Triple H took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that 2026 Men’s Elimination Chamber Match winner, Randy Orton, will take on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at The Show of Shows this year. He also mentioned Rhodes and Orton’s history in his statement.

It will be interesting to see what twists and turns unfold in the coming weeks. Could Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu also get involved in the thick of things somehow? Only time will tell.
