New NXT Tag Team Champions Crowned At Great American Bash

NXT Great American Bash

Two NXT stars were celebrating gold at the Great American Bash.

It has been a rough couple of months for Tony D’Angelo, after apparently being locked up at the behest of Gallus, The Don now has plenty of reason to celebrate.

At The Great American Bash in Cedar Park, Texas, D’Angelo had his chance at revenge as he teamed with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo to challenge Mark Coffey and Wolfgang for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The Scottish stars’ nearly six-month reign came crashing to a halt as The Family nailed Bada Boom, Bada Bing to ensure D’Angelo and Lorenzo won their first gold in WWE.

What else happened at NXT Great American Bash?

The night began with a big eight-person tag team match on the kick-off show as Dragon Lee, Nathan Frazer, Valentina Feroz, and Yulisa Leon defeated Meta-Four.

It was a successful night for former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez who defeated Blair Davenport in a Weapons Wild match. Gable Steveson finally made his in-ring WWE debut as he took on Baron Corbin but that match went to a double count-out as the two men brawled on the outside.

Dominik Mysterio has plenty of help from Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley as he retained the North American Championship against Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali. Tiffany Stratton held on to the NXT Women’s Championship when Andre Chase was forced to throw in the towel on behalf of Thea Hail when she simply would not submit to the champion.

In the night’s main event, Ilja Dragunov failed to dethrone Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship in a title match that is sure to be talked about for quite some time.
