Naomi Reveals Real Reason Behind Her WWE Walkout

Naomi

Naomi has lifted the lid on her walkout from WWE and why she decided enough was enough.

In May 2022, Sasha Banks and Naomi were the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, but behind the scenes, trouble was brewing. The pair ended up walking out of a live Raw show, forcing WWE to make a major change to a planned match and supposedly left their title belts with then-Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis.

WWE made the rare step of mentioning this on-screen, shaming the two stars publicly and announcing their suspension. Both Naomi and Banks ultimately left the company, with Banks going on to become Mercedes Mone in NJPW and later AEW, and Naomi becoming Trinity in TNA.

In TNA, Trinity captured the Knockouts Title before she ultimately made her peace with WWE and returned to the company in 2024. But why did she walk away in the first place?

Naomi Needed To Stand Up For Herself

In the first episode of season 2 of WWE Unreal, Naomi touches on why she decided to leave:

I’m not going to go too much into detail, but in 2022 my tag team partner Sasha Banks and I were the tag team champions at the time. A lot happened that day at work that led us to leave—literally walk out.

I needed to stand up for myself, not as Naomi, but as Trinity. And that was the first time in my life and my career that I wasn’t employed and didn’t know what to do next or where to go next.

Naomi had to vacate the Women’s World Championship in 2025 after she announced her pregnancy to the world.
