Why Did The New Day’s Kofi Kingston And Xavier Woods leave WWE?
Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez revealed the reason behind The New Day’s departure from WWE.
Kingston and Woods were reportedly asked to restructure their existing contracts into new deals with less favorable terms. Since the terms were not beneficial, the superstars declined the offers and requested their release, which WWE granted.
Bryan Alvarez reported, “We can also confirm that in the case of New Day, it was their decision to leave based on what TKO was offering for a new deal. To be specific, New Day’s deals were not up. They were asked to restructure to TKO deals, they didn’t like the deals, so they were then granted their release.”
Dave meltzer confirmed, “The stories on New Day that largely broke yesterday are accurate in that they were asked to take a pay cut on a deal signed in 2025 that was to go to 2030. They didn’t accept the pay cut and left on their own.”
Both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are currently under a 90-day non-compete clause, which will end in early August 2006.
