MJF Makes Ridiculous Prediction For AEW Title Match

MJF
MJF holds court on AEW TV

MJF will defend the AEW World Championship on the upcoming episode of Dynamite.

His challenger is Bandido, who is the current ROH World Champion. The 30-year-old is also the first wrestler other than Maxwell Jacob Friedman to become the 2025 Dynamite Diamond Ring winner.

This is Friedman’s first title defense in his second world championship reign. He won the title at AEW Worlds End, where he defeated Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page in a 4-way title match.

On the January 7 taping of the flagship show, MJF and Bandido came face-to-face, with the champion bringing a translator with him despite Bandido knowing the English language.

In the closing minutes of the segment, the 29-year-old champion hit a low blow on the masked luchador and took the diamond ring from his finger.

While trying to land a subsequent punch, MJF inadvertently knocked out the translator. Bandido retaliated with a low blow of his own before hitting Friedman with the 21-plex suplex.

MJF Makes Bold Prediction Ahead Of AEW Title Defense

MJF will face Bandido for the first time in a singles match on January 14, 2026.

Along with winning the 2025 Dynamite Diamond Ring, he was the AEW World Tag Team Champion with Brody King for 90 days between August and November.

Bandido recently shared a video on X, where he could be seen sweating it out ahead of his title match on Wednesday.

Replying to the video, Friedman claimed that he would defeat the challenger in 1.5 minutes.

Whether or not he lives up to his prediction remains to be seen.

Before his face-off against Friedman, Bandido competed in a singles match against Sammy Guevara on January 7.

Both superstars executed several high-flying moves, with the latter even injuring his nose at one point. Bandido won the match after hitting his 21-plex finisher.
