Mercedes Moné Challenges Current WWE Star To “One More Match”
Mercedes Mone wants to step into the ring with one of her greatest WWE rivals at least one more time.
It’s not that often when an AEW wrestler and a WWE wrestler interact on social media together, but it happened when Mercedes Mone participated in an Instagram Live video with one of her best friends, Bayley.
After Mone walked away from her WWE life as Sasha Banks in May 2022, she joined AEW in early 2024 and has beaten nearly everybody in her path, except for Toni Storm at All In Texas.
During her AEW run so far, Mercedes Mone has held the TBS Title for over 450 days and has won a total of 9 titles in other promotions around the world. She proudly displays those titles everywhere she goes.
At AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door, Mercedes Mone will defend the TBS Championship against Alex Windsor, Persephone, and Bozilla in a Fatal 4-Way match, where Mone could lose her title without getting pinned.
Bayley Wants One Of Mercedes Mone’s Titles
Ten years ago on August 22, 2015, Mone as Sasha Banks lost the NXT Women’s Title to Bayley in a match that is celebrated to this day as one of the best women’s matches in WWE history. Bayley paid tribute to the match on Instagram, and the two good friends spoke about it on Instagram Live as well. During their discussion, Mone and Bayley spoke about having another match.
Mercedes Mone: “I’m going for title number nine tonight.”
Bayley: “I just want one.”
Mone: “You just want one?”
Bayley: “I just want one, dude.”
Mone: “Come face me then, dude. Give the people what they want, one more match. So, what do you think about one more match?”
Bayley: “It depends what title is on the line. We’ll see.”
Mone: “I have a lot.”
Bayley: “How long would it be in? Ten years or five years or three years or one year?”
Mone: “Ten years seems a little too long, I can’t imagine not wrestling you for ten years.”
Bayley: “Mama’s getting old.”
Mone: “If I wrestled you when you were 50, I think I’d love that. It wouldn’t even be a match, it’d just be a haha.”
For that title match to happen, Bayley and Mone would likely have to be in the same company, so either Mone goes back to WWE at some point or Bayley becomes All Elite. In the pro wrestling business, never say never.
