Malakai Black is taking some time away from professional wrestling.

Independent Wrestling promotion Northeast Wrestling has announced that Malakai Black missed tonight’s event due to a reported ‘health issue’.

AEW and Ring Of Honor star, Jay Lethal as well as former WWE star, nZo replaced Black during tonight’s show, as previously announced by Northeast Wrestling.

During this past weekend’s AEW All Out pay-per-view, Black competed alongside his House of Black stablemates, Brody King and Buddy Matthews in a losing effort against Sting, Darby Allin, and Miro. Following the loss, Black was seen bowing and blowing a kiss to the fans in attendance, adding fuel to the fire that he asked for his release from All Elite Wrestling.

In an update on Malakai Black’s status with AEW, it was reported that Black had indeed been granted his release from the company on a conditional basis. However, per multiple reports, one of the conditions believed to be included in Black’s release, is that he can’t compete in other companies, but it’s unclear if that’s for independent promotions or just major promotions such as WWE, NJPW, and IMPACT Wrestling.
