It looks like the numbers would add up well for one US city to host the WWE Royal Rumble next year.

For many, the WWE Royal Rumble is considered the next big event behind WrestleMania. It’s also not just about what happens for the event, as outside of the actual wrestling there is an entire tourist industry which gets a boost from such footfall heading to their town.

Orlando is preparing a bid which would aim for the showpiece to head back to the town for the first time since 2016, and the first time in the state of Florida since it was held in St. Petersburg during the pandemic.

The report from the Orlando Business Journal notes that the Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee is set to request $850,000 in order for the Greater Orlando Sports Commission to make the bid for the event. Further to this, it states that the Royal Rumble being in Orlando could “brings the potential of nearly $28 million in economic impact, 40,000 hotel room nights and more than 53,000 attendees”.

Jason Siegel, President and CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, commented on the bid:

We have a long history of hosting major marquee WWE events in Orlando, and we are hopeful that our friends at WWE select Orlando to host Royal Rumble in 2024.

To help paint a picture, this year’s Royal Rumble was held in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and attracted over 50,000 fans.
